Year 4 have been learning about sound for Science this half term, to coincide with this topic, the children participated in an African Drumming Workshop. They were very excited about it (to say the least). The children got a chance to try many different types of drums from different places in Africa: South Africa, Ghana and Kenya. The drums were all different shapes and sizes and made of different materials. They particularly enjoyed learning about the origins of Queen’s famous song – We Will Rock You - and enjoyed playing it on their drums. There was excellent drum playing throughout the workshops and some awesome dance moves and words to go along with it!

After the children had rehearsed their performance with their class, they performed it to the rest of the children in their year group. Overall, the children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and learning a new skill.
