Secret Gardens

Year 4 have been enjoying reading Tom's Midnight Garden in their guided reading lessons, which has led to them being inspired to create their own miniature gardens. Working in groups of three, the children joined together to design and formulate their ideas before turning them into a reality. Their creativity was unleashed upon plain wooden disks which they have since turned into an explosion of riotous colour and ingenuity. They had access to a range of materials from in school, such as coloured paper, lollysticks, cardboard etc but they were also able to bring in their own choice of extras if they so chose.

It has been wonderful seeing their creativity spark and the year 4 shared area has resembled a mini oasis. Water features, trees, gravel paths, manicured lawns and meticulously made flowers are just some of the highlights of the children's hard work. Each garden, a beautiful piece of artwork showcasing their teamwork and talent. Well done, year 4!
