The year 5 children's most recent writing lessons have been focussed around writing an adventure story with fact sections positioned throughout. This has linked their guided reading book "George's secret key to the universe" by Stephen and Lucy Hawking as this is the style in which it has been written. 

The children have been able to use their existing knowledge of elements of space as well as further research to write their fact sections. Some of the topics that have been chosen have included: black holes, nebulas, comets and different planets in our solar system. Aside from the fact sections, the children have been working on writing interesting story openers to hook the reader in and encourage them to want to read on! George and Annie (characters borrowed from our guided reading text) have been on a range of adventures across the children's writing.

Be sure to ask your child what area of space they chose to write about and what adventure their version of George and Annie went on!
