Languages enrichment
S’mae! As part of our school enrichment sessions, children in year 5 and 6 today took part in learning some Welsh.
It was a great opportunity to learn some vocabulary about another language that is spoken here in the UK and understand that we are not just an island of English speakers but also Celtic languages too. After learning some basic phrases and stumbling through Welsh pronunciation, we read “Lliwiau Byd Natur” by Luned Aaron and learnt how to say the colours in Welsh. We ended the session with quite a competitive game of “Gêm pedwar mewn rhes” or “four in a row” using their new knowledge of Welsh colours.
