Millennium Meadow Planting
Yesterday afternoon, our School Council had lots of fun planting wild flowers, including Ox-Eye Daisies, Honesty, Primroses and Geraniums, in the Millennium Meadow, which runs behind Bradwell Road, opposite the school.
Supported by local parish councilor Judith Heinemann and parish clerk Paula Milford, the children learnt how to prepare the ground, carefully separate the plants and then plant them in the holes they had prepared, making sure they were securely bedded. We also came away with a bag of litter picked by some of the children.
The Millennium Meadow is open to all and would be a lovely spot for a summer picnic. We urge you to take a walk through it to see the children's work first hand. We hope to take the children back to see how much the plants have grown before the end of term.
Many thanks to Judith, Paula and Thomas for their time, and to the Parish Council who donated £250.00 worth of plants. The children enjoyed the experience and were enthusiastic, hardworking and a credit to their families and the school.
