Romans vs. Celts
Our long-awaited battle took place this Wednesday in the middle of an extremely busy week in year 4!
Our shared area had been piled high with swords and shields of both kinds since first thing on Monday morning and all the children were frantic with anticipation and excitement. Mrs Lai-Kit dressed as a magnificent Boudica and delivered her rousing speech to the assembled Celts after the Romans had marched in formation from the bottom playground with Mr Taylor at their head.
Thank you to all the parents and carers at home who made it possible for the children to be kitted out so splendidly for this occasion, which is the highlight of the autumn term for many. We know Mrs Martindale won't forget the sight of 120 children fighting each other on the playground during her PE lesson! Thank you also to Mrs Wilson, who gave up her free time this week to help those children who were unable to make their shields at home.
We are very proud of our immersive curriculum here at Loughton and it is moments like this which bring our history lessons alive.
