Christingle

This week in year 4 we have been contemplative and creative.

We have been thinking about the significance and the meaning of the Christingle. The children had a Bridgebuilder assembly to learn about the various aspects of the Christingle: the orange itself signifying the whole world; the red band which encircles the circumference which signifies the never ending love which encompasses everyone; the candle which represents light in dark places and hope; the 4 sticks which represent the four seasons and often the four epistles of the New Testament and - of course the children’s favourite – the sweets that represent all the good things in the world and everything in the world that nourishes and sustains us.

The children really enjoyed making their own Christingle in class, telling the story of the Christingle and of course eating the vegan Jelly Tots which we used this year.

Well done year 4!
