Space Centre

Launch in 3...2...1... Ignition!

Year 5 had an out of this world experience at the Space Centre. The children travelled through the universe, had an up-close look at our solar system and even had the chance to see what it would be like to be on a space module.  It was a great opportunity for the children to further their space knowledge and gain some hands-on experience in our topic.

Particular high points of the day were driving a Mars Rover, pretending to be astronauts in the space module and trying out different experiments, such as launching rockets and testing telescopes. The wonderment of all the children was clear, and they were all eager to listen and learn about the wonders of the universe.

Visiting the planetarium, year 5 were all amazed by the training astronauts must go through to prepare themselves to go to space. There were lots of discussions about how amazing it would be to go into space and see these things up-close in real life. The whole trip energised the children and has definitely kindled their interest in space even more. They returned to school full of facts and questions.

We are also grateful to our parent helpers, who took time out of their busy schedules to join us and help make the whole day more enjoyable and assisted in the running of the trip. We cannot thank you enough for your time and efforts. Thank you.
