Take One Book Week
Escape Room - Find the answer. Save the world!
This week, in Take One Book Week, year six focused on the book, Escape Room by Christopher Edge. Take One Book Week activities are planned around the theme of a chosen book. The children solved different escape rooms based on different subjects: maths, English, science and geography. Once they solved the escape rooms, they were given digits, to a padlock, which told them which year six class they were going to make an escape room for. The children were able to use the modelled escape rooms and their own areas of interest to find clues for another class. They were able to show their skills as artists, historians, mathematicians and linguists (to name a few).
The nature of these activities led to excellent discussions on resilience, team work and communication. Resilience is one of our stars at Loughton School and is important for the learning journey. We discussed the necessity of using known facts, working together and checking our work, in order to be successful. Overall, year six had an excellent first week.
