Year 6 Spring Bingo Homework

This spring term, year 6 were asked to complete a spring bingo challenge. There were a number of homework ideas they could choose that were worth a set amount of points per activity. They had to complete enough challenges that warranted 60 points.

The most popular activity chosen was the activity worth 60 points. For this, they had to design their own organism, label it and present it in a poster form. The range of organisms designed was amazing and the naming of their organisms was all so original. For each one, they needed to invent a habitat; write about the creature’s diet; how it has adapted and evolved; its attacking or defence mechanisms; and maybe some fun facts. The children had great fun being inventive and using their new knowledge of adaptation, evolution and living things gained from their science lessons to support their homework.

Some children chose to create a model fossil using materials such as clay, paper-mache or cardboard. The detail that went into some of them was of a very high standard;  they looked awesome – very true to life. For this activity, they were given 30 points.

Others went down the mathematical route, creating a chart to compare fractions, decimals and percentages. This again has consolidated their work on these topics from their maths lessons. This activity was worth 10 points.

These are just a few of the seven activities outlined for the children to complete. Thank you to all the children who completed the bingo challenge and gave it their very best. Well done indeed.
