Getting hands-on with Maths!

Year 3 Students Dive into Practical Maths: Estimating and Measuring Mass.

This week, Year 3 have been getting stuck into some practical maths, focusing on mass. They started by predicting how much different objects might weigh before using scales to check their estimates. While some students' guesses were impressively close, others were quite surprising!

After weighing their guesses, the students then moved on to comparing the actual weights of the objects, ordering them from lightest to heaviest and discussing why some objects were heavier than expected.

It was a fun, hands-on way to practise estimating and measuring, while also developing their critical thinking skills. A nice change from working in books!
