We began the week by discussing what tanks were used for during the Second World War and also learned about why they are constructed with an armour surround and with a cannon which projects from the platform above the wheel base. 

The children then experimented using syringes and plastic tubing to understand how pneumatics can force air through a narrow opening and we talked about a range of equipment which uses this method to cause parts to move. Some of the classes have already worked with the DT equipment and a range of materials to build their wheel base and we will report back next week to show you how they get on.
