Exploring the Amazon Rainforest

We found out what it was like to be a jungle explorer this week!

On Tuesday and Wednesday, year six invited a real-life explorer to visit the school. Simon really engaged with the children from the start. As well as allowing the children to share the knowledge they had already been learning in their recent history and geography topics, he brought Central America to life with pictures, stories and activities.

It was wonderful to see all the topics revisited that reflected learning over the last four years: the water cycle, living things and habitats, life cycles, ancient civilisations and geography of the world.

Each class split into teams to complete tasks throughout the day, taking every opportunity to impress Simon with the information they knew already, answering questions enthusiastically and jotting down new details for the future.

We were so proud of the children’s behaviour and fantastic listening skills. Everyone agreed how much fun the day was.
