We are inspired by van Gogh's Starry Night picture in the art room.  Last week we explored the picture in a digital format, using iPads to create starry skies of our own.  This week we stuck a small portion of the Starry Night picture onto a page in our books and, using oil pastels, continued the colours, strokes and energy of the original piece into new directions and compositions.  We found that you don't necessarily need to know all the directions a picture will take before we begin it.   We learnt about van Gogh's life, his inspirations, his changing styles and his success that only came after his death.
