Year 5 Science

This half term ...

Year 5 are coming to the end of our unit on the heart and lungs, learning that these organs, along with the blood vessels, form the circulatory system. We have been very impressed with how well the children have learnt and understood some complex scientific vocabulary.  Perhaps you can ask them to explain what the heart is made of as well as the function of the left ventricle?  The children measured their own pulse rate in a variety of settings and investigated what happened to our heart rates when we exercise. Next week, we will use the data that we have collected in our computing unit: we will look at how to use Excel to produce graphs and charts.
