Year 5 Recently

Year 5 has been busy over the last few weeks. We have watched our caterpillars grow, form chrysalis and turn into beautiful ‘Painted Lady’ butterflies, which we then released out into the wild.

As part of a part. 5th enterprise, we also made 200 ice pops to sell at the Music Festival held last Friday. We were lucky enough to have some helpful parents supporting us with this, and they proved to be very popular, selling out in around 30 minutes!

This week has been STEM week for Year 5; we have planned, made and tested motorised vehicles and evaluated their effectiveness and the process of making them. This requires teamwork and collaboration, reviewing and using skills learnt previously and learning new ones – such as how to use pulleys to move the vehicles. The children were problem-solving throughout the project and the results were impressive.
