Science enrichment
A child from each class spent Friday afternoon having a science enrichment afternoon.
We went outside where they worked in pairs. Their science task was to make a shelter for a small troll figure out of junk materials that would withstand a downpour and keep the troll dry and the shelter intact. This meant the children had to think about the size of the shelter and the properties of the materials to be waterproof. We had many successful shelters with dry trolls and a few soggy shelters with some damp trolls. They discovered the best materials to use were made from plastic and the least successful materials were cardboard and cloth. They all had a great time and were a pleasure to work with.
