DT enrichment

Making a Model Zip Wire.

Twelve children from years 3-5 took part in the DT enrichment task last Thursday.  The brief was to make a model ZIP line using lolly sticks, paperclips, elastic bands and a propeller.

The children worked in groups of four to construct a frame from lolly sticks that attached to the line using 2 paper clips.

At the base of their frame they attached two more paper clips and a propeller. Between these paper clips we experimented with different size elastic bands in order to make propeller turn.

We then tested the finished assemblies on the zip line to see if they would move along the line.

The children had a lot of fun and all managed to get the propeller to work although they didn’t quite move as fast as we would have wished.

The children were fantastic and worked really well together.

The children involved were:

Vincent HB, Thishan HB2, Elliott HB3 and Ivan HB4

Yahya HB5, Omari HB6, Taylor HB7 and Bella HB8

Ben HB9, Aaydenn HB10, Sophie HB11 and Yunus HB12.
